What I Like:

• Ample parking on site.
• Great in all seasons – from lush greenery in Summer to great fall foliage, and even beautiful in winter with snow.

Things to Know:

• The park has four distinct locations, including Seaton Hackney Stables, South Street area, and Kitchell Pond. South Street has athletic fields and a playground so tends to be more crowded; there is a nice trail in the back of the park though that’s a bit quieter.
• Kitchell Pond and Loantaka Way are my favorite spots for photos.

• The Woodland Trails: Tucked behind the pond on the other side of the meadow is a flat trail, perfect for exploring and capturing your family in a secluded natural setting. The path leads to the meadow or to the woods, which provide dappled sunlight that creates a magical ambiance.
• The Loantaka Brook: The brook adds a touch of serenity and movement to your photos. Its banks are lined with trees and rocks, providing a picturesque setting.
• The Bridge: A charming stone bridge crosses the brook, offering an another beautiful backdrop for your photos. Kids will enjoy peering over the bridge to spot turtles and fish.

Morristown National Historical Park – Jockey Hollow

What I Like: The park offers diverse backdrops from hills, to historic buildings and open meadows. Onsite parking, restrooms at the Jockey Hollow Visitor Center.

Things to Know: Strict rules are in place at closing time, which changes throughout the year, and the Park Ranger may require that you leave so be sure to plan session timing with that in mind. Check website for hours before visiting.

• Historic Structures – The Ford Mansion: While the mansion itself is closed to the public, the stone structure and the surrounding grounds are beautiful. A nearby old red barn and wood fence offer rustic vibe. The park features reconstructed soldiers’ huts, reminiscent of those used by the Continental Army (The Winter Encampment Area). The setting evokes historical charm and can add interest to your family portraits.
• Woodland Trails: For a more serene setting, consider the woodland area and nearby trails.
