Three Reasons to Book a Backyard Motherhood Session this Summer

Summer isn’t just for backyard barbecues, blowing bubbles and visiting the beach. It’s also a great time for making memories with your family and the perfect time to capture treasured moments while your babies are still little. Here are three reasons you may want to consider a casual and easygoing backyard motherhood session this summer.

No Need To Pack A Diaper Bag, Snacks or Drive Anyplace

If you have little ones, the thought of having to get everyone ready, pack the car, and arrive on time for photos might make you reconsider. What if you didn’t have to do anything to prepare but get dressed, and enjoy a relaxing evening in your backyard? That’s right. No need to corral the kids; we’ll let them play in your yard, while I capture them having fun in their own element.

This sweet baby boy had just woken from a nap when I arrived for this backyard motherhood session. That made for a great opportunity to capture lots of images of his momma snuggling him in the beginning. Once he was more awake, I suggested that mom set him down in the grass so he could explore his surroundings. Although I can’t promise parents we will always get smiling shots of their baby, I’m over the moon when we do because I know how much moms treasure joyful expressions. And, when this little cutie started clapping (for the very first time), I was thrilled to capture that memory for his momma.

No Shoes Needed

Shoes are often the last thing we think of when planning what to wear for photos. The wrong shoes can easily ruin a great outfit (think neon light-up sneakers), and who wants to buy a pair of shoes for the kids when they’ll only wear them once? Summer is a great time to go barefoot for your photos, especially if you’re in your own backyard. Just look at this baby boy’s adorable toes in the images below!

Backyard Sessions are Perfect for Capturing Candid Moments

Whether you are snuggling your little one close or letting him explore on his own, backyard sessions allow for lots of real and in-between moments. Being in their everyday setting helps ensure that your baby/child is comfortable and will allow his personality to shine. They also provide an opportunity to capture your little one in a meaningful location that he will recognize in your photos as he grows. And often, the most meaningful memories come from the images we see taken in familiar locations like home.
