Imagine curling up on your living‑room sofa, your toddler snuggled under your arm, and gentle baby kicks fluttering beneath your favorite dress. That’s the beauty of an in‑home maternity session—no rushing out the door, no need for shoes—just real life, beautifully captured where your story is unfolding.
Home is where your family’s every day magic happens. The nursery you’re decorating, the kitchen where snacks become memories, and your toddler’s favorite reading nook becomes a special spot to slow down and connect. These spaces offer comfort, familiarity, and the perfect setting for authentic, love-filled photos.
Toddlers thrive with freedom and flexibility. That’s why I always build in time for breaks whether it’s for a quick snack, exploring, or proudly showing me a favorite stuffed animal or toy. These little moments often turn into the most heartfelt photos.
During a recent session, I asked a little boy to show me his favorite toy. His eyes lit up as he brought over his favorite dinosaur, and just like that, we had a relaxed and joy-filled moment.
Pro Tip: If your toddler is especially energetic, once we’ve captured a few playful moments, ask them to pick out a favorite book. Reading together often creates calm, quiet connection and beautifully tender images like the ones you see in this post. This little boy was full of energy, but when I asked him to grab his favorite book, he proudly brought over a whole stack and climbed into his dad’s lap. Simple moments like this–reading together, snuggling in close—are how I capture genuine, connected images that reflect your everyday routines.
I’ll gently guide you into natural, connection-filled moments—like snuggling on the couch, reading a favorite book, or dancing in the nursery. If your toddler decides to pop in (or take a break), we’ll simply follow their lead. These sessions are about capturing your family’s true rhythm, not perfect poses or forced smiles.
I never ask children to smile or look at the camera—and I kindly ask that you don’t either. There’s no need for bribes or “say cheese!” moments. I want your child to feel safe, unpressured, and free to be themselves. That’s when we capture the most heartfelt, genuine expressions—the little looks and in-between moments that truly tell your story.
Pro Tip: Stay present, positive, and engaged with your partner and child. Let go of expectations about how your child should behave. When you do, their real personality shines–and that’s when the magic happens!
Before we begin, I’ll often invite your toddler to give me a quick tour of the house (they love being in charge!). This helps them feel comfortable and gives me a chance to find the best spots with soft, natural light–usually by a big window or patio doors.
I always offer styling tips before your session. Neutral, soft tones photograph beautifully and let your connection take center stage.
In the images below, the mama wore a sage checkered maxi dress that paired perfectly with her husband’s and toddler’s light green and gray outfits, and fit seamlessly with their airy, minimalistic home.
How far along should I be?
Most moms book sessions between 28–34 weeks, when your bump is round, but you’re still comfy moving around.
My house is small—can we still do this?
Absolutely! All we need is one good window and a few uncluttered corners. I’ll take care of the rest.
What if my toddler won’t cooperate?
That’s completely normal! I use playful prompts and games to keep things light, and I shoot quickly during those bursts of cooperation.
If you’re dreaming of relaxed, heartfelt images that celebrate your growing belly and the big‑sibling excitement, I’d love to connect. Let’s create something beautiful together—your future self (and your babies) will thank you!
