With each turn, you’ll encounter a new backdrop for photographs, ensuring that every shot is unique. Whether surrounded by vibrant flowers or framed by towering trees in the Japanese Garden, the arboretum offers a picturesque setting for creating timeless memories.
This makes it ideal for families looking for a location that offers a variety of backdrops for their family photos, and one reason I especially love photographing families at this location. It also offers wide open space, perfect for little ones to explore during a session.
Seasonal Allure
While each season offers something to appreciate, blooming daffodils and tulips, along with flowering trees like Cherry Blossoms and magnolias, make for a show-stopping springtime.
This location is also beautiful during the summer, bringing lush greenery and warm sunlight filtering through the trees. No matter the season, the grounds are alluring and make a beautiful setting for your family photos.
A Quiet Oasis
When this mom reached out to me to schedule a spring session, she asked if I could recommend a location with cherry blossoms that wouldn’t be as crowded as some of the more popular New Jersey parks known for their cherry blossoms in spring. I’m always scouting for the best locations for outdoor family photos, and an important consideration, besides the quality of light, is whether crowds and parking could be a concern. Because Frelinghuysen Arboretum is one of the Morris County parks that requires a permit and reservation for professional photography, this is one of my go-to locations when minimizing crowds is a priority for a family.
