It’s also important to set realistic expectations. For example, if your toddler prefers quiet snuggles over running around, your gallery will highlight those tender, intimate moments. The goal is always to capture your family authentically—just as you are.

A Prop-Free Natural Approach

In my NJ outdoor family photo sessions, I take a simple, natural approach. Aside from a blanket for seated shots, I don’t use props. If you’re looking for highly styled holiday portraits or posed setups, I may not be the right fit—but I’m happy to recommend another photographer!

Instead, I encourage families to incorporate meaningful activities, like reading a favorite book to your toddler or exploring nature together. These moments add a personal touch to your photos and help tell your family’s unique story.

What to Expect During Your NJ Outdoor Family Photo Session:

1. I’ll aim to capture, (when baby/toddler allows) a traditional portrait with everyone looking at the camera–though I focus on candid moments during most of the session.
2. Most of your gallery will feature natural interactions and heartfelt connections rather than posed smiles.
3. I’ll photograph a variety of groupings, including kids individually, sibling interactions, and parent-child moments. When time permits, I’ll capture parents together.
4. Expect a lot of snuggles, hugs, and playful affection–it’s the best way to create genuine emotional images.
5. I won’t ask your kids to smile or say cheese. Instead, I’ll use fun games and prompts to elicit natural smiles and avoid meltdowns.

The less pressure you feel, the more relaxed and enjoyable your session will be. Trust me to guide the process and capture your family at its best!
